We had our first session with Andrew today for our 4 1/2 month old Husky Mix. Huskies are one of the more difficult breeds to train, but Andrew says they are his personal favorite and is very confident that our pup can become a great dog. I loved that the session happened in our own home and Andrew could evaluate how our dog is doing and help us come up with a training plan for her. He encouraged us to ask questions as they came up and we had a lot of questions. He answered them all and provided realistic examples that helped the concepts make perfect sense. We were able to implement his suggestions quickly and see a difference in our pups behavior. Prior to the session I had also read his book which I highly highly recommend. If you're looking for a dog trainer, stop searching and call Black Belt Canine Academy.

From my very first phone call to ask about helping my three-year-old Borgi, JennyBee, with her barking, I knew I had found the right place. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in understanding what was going on rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution.

Just two days later, Andrew came to our home, and I was blown away. He took the time to observe JennyBee's behavior, explain why she was reacting the way she was, and gave us practical, easy-to-follow techniques that made sense.

The most amazing part? We saw noticeable improvement while Andrew was still here. Even better, JennyBee has continued to maintain that progress since the visit. The training wasn't just about correcting behavior—it was about helping us communicate with our dog in a way she understands.

And, according to JennyBee, she wasn't barking...she was simply performing her duties as Chief Barking Officer and making sure she was included in every important family meeting. Thankfully, Andrew gently helped her transition into her new role as Senior Security Consultant, where she now saves her expertise for the things that actually matter!

Andrew has been absolutely incredible to work with! From the very beginning, it was clear how knowledgeable, patient, and passionate he is. He took the time to understand our goals and tailored the training to fit our family’s unique needs.

What impressed us most was how he explained not just what to do, but why it works. His book is also incredible. We highly recommend it! We read it as a family and it helped prepare us for what was to come. His positive, encouraging approach made training enjoyable, and we saw noticeable improvements much faster than we expected which made us sign up for more lessons. Andrew is a genius. He visited us at our home and spent about 2 hours with us and our Pugs.  He was able to diagnose the issue and tell us how to solve it. He followed up with a 4 page report which reiterated what he told us to do. EVERYTHING he told us to do we did and it TOTALLY SOLVED our issues.  They are like different dogs.  We are beyond excited and satisfied with his work and the follow-up of his support staff. Was very happy with the home visit Andrew provided. We learned a lot in a short time and decided to continue obedience training for our Cane Corso. Andrew is definitely a dog whisperer and has a lot of experience training animals. Very happy so far and look forward to continuing the partnership.
Update for my review. STILL 5 STARS. Andrew is an excellent trainer and the dogs seem to know he is the teacher. Went through 10 lessons and my Cane Corso has grown into a more disciplined puppy. At 10 weeks she is way ahead of other dogs. We are adding to the tool kit these next couple of weeks but she knows commands, including non verbal, and knows how to respond. We had an amazing experience with Andrew and Black Belt Canine Academy from start to finish. We began with the puppy training and saw results almost immediately, our puppy became potty trained quickly and started picking up basic commands with ease. The leash training alone made a huge difference in our day-to-day routine.

Because of how well things were going, we decided to invest in additional sessions for our older dog, who had developed a few inconvenient behaviors over the years. Andrew was just as effective with her, and we noticed real, lasting improvements.

By the end of our training, both of our dogs are well behaved, and we feel confident bringing them out in public knowing they’ll listen and behave appropriately. Additionally, they know and. listen to commands when given in the home. Beyond the results, we were really impressed with the Andrew's philosophy, depth of knowledge, and overall professionalism.
